  • September 13, 2003 - August 2003 - Monthly Fatality Report - Department of Public Safety officials report a decrease of 20 traffic fatalities in August for a total of 61, compared to 81 in the same month last year.
  • August 27, 2003 - Troopers stress safe driving and boating during holiday - There has not been a fatality on Oklahoma's lakes during the Labor Day holiday weekend since the year 2000 and officials would like to see this trend continue.
  • August 14, 2003 - July 2003 - Monthly Fatality Report - Department of Public Safety officials report a decrease of 34 traffic fatalities in July for a total of 50, compared to 84 in the same month last year.

  • May 30, 2003 - State patrol celebrates 30 years of student academy - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Cadet Lawman Academy, a training camp for qualified high school juniors who take on the role of trooper cadet for one week.
  • May 21, 2003 - Troopers warn drivers to slow down - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is encouraging drivers to slow down as they travel during the Memorial Day holiday weekend that kicks off summer travel.
  • May 20, 2003 - Officers recruit for 20-person police academy - "It has been one of the best-kept law enforcement secrets in the state but we're going to change that," said Oklahoma Highway Patrol Second Lieutenant Ben Crockett, deputy director of the Oklahoma Police Corps, a training academy for police officers.
  • May 16, 2003 - Homeland Security funds available to aid frist responders through the Oklahoma First Responder Equipment Program - Today Oklahoma Homeland Security Director Bob A. Ricks announced the availability of funds through additional phases of the Oklahoma First Responder Equipment Program.

  • April 16, 2003 - Yellow bows of freedom to be placed in honor of employees and families - Department of Public Safety officials will kick off a program to support employees and family members who have been called to active military duty beginning with a Yellow Bows of Freedom ceremony to be held Wednesday at 2 p.m.
