  • December 11, 2000 - November 2000 - Monthly Fatality Report - Department of Public Safety officials report a decrease of 28 traffic fatalities in November for a total of 39, compared to 67 in the same month last year.
  • December 4, 2000 - Jane Doe - Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials are searching for the identification of a hitchhiker who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 40, November 30 at approximately 10:30 p.m.
  • November 17, 2000 - Thanksgiving Holiday - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported a death toll of 11 during the 1999 Thanksgiving holiday.
  • November 14, 2000 - October 2000 - Monthly Fatality Report - Department of Public Safety officials report a decrease of two traffic fatalities in October for a total of 68, compared to 70 in the same month last year.
  • October 26, 2000 - New identification requirements - Beginning November 1, Oklahoma drivers will be effected by three new licensing requirements. The first requirement affects all drivers, the second concerns drivers between 21 and 26 years of age, and the last is directed at males age 18 to 25.
  • October 12, 2000 - September 2000 - Monthly Fatality Release - Department of Public Safety officials report a decrease of 16 traffic fatalities in September for a total of 51, compared to 67 in the same month last year.

Lester Training Center, 3600 North Martin Luther King Blvd. at 8:15 a.m.

  • September 1, 2000 - Trooper Fatally Wounded - Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers mourn the loss of one of their own. Trooper Matthew Scott Evans was killed while on routine patrol in Oklahoma County early Thursday morning, August 31.
  • August 14, 2000 - July 2000 - Monthly Fatality Report - Department of Public Safety officials report a decrease of 21 traffic fatalities in July for a total of 48, compared to 69 in the same month last year.
  • August 11, 2000 - OHP troopers win state pistol championship - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol Pistol Team achieved top honors at the Oklahoma State Police Pistol Combat Championship competition held Saturday in Oklahoma City, hosting over 20 law enforcement agencies.
  • August 1, 2000 - OHP trooper wins state pistol match - Mike Sexton wins the state pistol matches again this year, he will tie the record held by former Norman Police Officer Royce Weddle who won the title seven consecutive years in the early 1980s.
