  • November 19, 1999 - Operation ABC - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol will join thousands of law enforcement agencies across the country to take part in the second wave of the 1999 Operation ABC Mobilization: America Buckles Up Children - the largest ever coordinated enforcement effort on drivers who don't buckle up children.
  • October 18, 1999 - September 1999 - Monthly Fatality Report - Department of Public Safety officials report a decrease of 15 traffic fatalities in September for a total of 50, compared to 65 in the same month last year.
  • September 24, 1999 - Trooper Fatally Wounded - Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper David "Rocky" Eales, 49, was shot and killed while assisting the district attorney's drug task force in Sequoyah County in an attempt to serve felony warrants at 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 23.
  • August 11, 1999 - July 1999 - Monthly Fatality Report - Department of Public Safety officials report a decrease of 20 traffic fatalities in July for a total of 56, compared to 76 in the same month last year.
  • August 5, 1999 - Northcutt named officer of the month by national organization - Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Rocky Northcutt has been selected as Officer of the Month for July 1999 by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
  • August 2, 1999 - 51st Academy Graduation - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol 51st Academy cadets will graduate Tuesday, August 3 at the Memorial Road Church of Christ, 2221 East Memorial Road in Oklahoma City at 1 p.m.
  • July 13, 1999 - OHP First Lieutenant Rick Adams selected for United States War College - Oklahoma Highway Patrol First Lieutenant Rick Adams was recently selected from numerous applicants to attend the United States War College this fall in residence at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania.
  • July 9, 1999 - June 1999 - Monthly Fatality Report - Department of Public Safety officials report a decrease of 11 traffic fatalities in June for a total of 62, compared to 73 in the same month last year.
  • June 30, 1999 - Fourth of July - State police from Texas, Missouri and New Mexico will rally with Oklahoma troopers in a kick off for a specific enforcement effort during the holiday weekend.
  • June 15, 1999 - May 1999 - Monthly Fatality Report - Department of Public Safety officials report a decrease of five traffic fatalities in May for a total of 62, compared to 67 in the same month last year.
  • June 13, 1999 - Trooper Involved Shooting - A St. Louis Missouri man died yesterday following a shoot-out and pursuit with a trooper in far northeastern OK.
  • June 9, 1999 - Lake Patrol Honorees - Three Department of Public Safety employees and a state representative were honored by the International Association of Marine Investigators during their conference in Nashville, Tennessee.
  • June 7, 1999 - Construction Area Enforcment - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has stepped up enforcement in an eight mile construction zone on state highway 33 in an effort to reduce traffic crashes.

  • April 26, 1999 - Injured Oklahoma Highway Patrolman - Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Steve Smith was shot by an armed man at a cemetery near Bernice, Oklahoma on Sunday evening.
  • April 15, 1999 - March 1999 - Monthly Fatality Report - Department of Public Safety officials report an increase of five traffic fatalities in March for a total of 58, compared to 53 in the same month last year.
  • March 30, 1999 - 51st Oklahoma Highway Patrol Academy - The Department of Public Safety will welcome 77 cadets to the 51st Oklahoma Highway Patrol Academy at 1 P.M. on Tuesday, March 30 at the Robert R. Lester Training Center, 3600 North Martin Luther King Boulevard in Oklahoma City.
  • March 18, 1999 - Trooper of the Year - Three troopers were honored at the 30th Annual Trooper of the Year awards luncheon on Wednesday, March 10 in Oklahoma City.
