Corporation Commission Assumes Responsibility for Wrecker Service Rates and Fees
Effective November 1, 2011, the Corporation Commission assumes sole jurisdiction over rates and fees charged by wrecker and towing services, as provided in House Bill 1743.
As of that date, the authority to "supervise, govern and control" wrecker rates and fees is transferred from the Department of Public Safety to the Corporation Commission who will be responsible for establishing, supervising and enforcing wrecker rates and fees.
Additionally, the Corporation Commission is given "the power and authority necessary ... to mediate and adjudicate complaints" regarding rates and fees charged for towing or storing a vehicle.
House Bill 1743, authored by State Representative Dennis Johnson and State Senator Anthony Sykes, was signed by Governor Fallin on May 26, 2011, and becomes effective on November 1, 2011.
