Oklahoma Driver's Manual
Motor license agents will be selling the Oklahoma Driver's Manual, used for Class D driver license testing beginning Friday, May 14, 2010. An agreement between the Department of Public Safety and motor license agents allows the agents, at their expense, to print and distribute the manual.
The manual will be sold for $4.50 plus tax.
Previously, DPS Provided the manual at no charge.
"With the current budget shortfall, that is no longer possible," according to Commissioner of Public Safety, Kevin Ward.
"Since tag agents are located throughout the state and are already a part of the driver license process, this solution for the manual's availability is an alternative."
Jim Kitch, a Yukon Tag Agent and member of the To-Tag Driver License Manual Committee stated, "Tag Agents are very excited about the opportunity to assist DPS and once again provide manuals to Oklahoma's citizens."
Once the driver's manuals have been distributed statewide at tag agents, Driver License Exam locations will no longer provide the Class D OPERATOR'S manual. The Commercial Driver License Manual will still be available at the testing sites free of charge.
Another option in obtaining all manuals, is to visit the DPS Web site at www.dps.state.ok.us where the 102-page Driver's Manual may be downloaded at no cost. Also, on the Web site is a list of motor license agent locations to purchase the Class D manual.
"Continuing to provide a driver license study manual to applicants, beyond their downloading it from the Web site, was a goal of the department" said Ward. "We are pleased with the cooperative, joint agreement with tag agents."
