Homeland Security Regional Response System

State officials to unveil "State-Of-The-Art" $17 million Regional Response System funded by U.S. Department of Homeland Security grants. The participants will include agency heads from the Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security, the Department of Public Safety, the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management, as well as Lieutenant Governor Jari Askins.

The system consists of more than 60 units strategically located across the state which provide multiple levels of response. For the first time, an example of each type of unit, including a $1.5 million Mobile Communications and Command unit, will be on display at the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 for a 2 PM press event. The press conference is planned to be held on the NW parking lot (old 89erís stadium area), with the Cox Pavilion as an inclement weather location.

Members of the press are encouraged to tour the various apparatus on display from across the state immediately following the press conference.
