Oklahoma Highway Patrol identifies noncontact vehicle in fatal bus collision
On Saturday, February 18, 2006, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol investigated a double fatality collision involving a commercial passenger bus owned by Autobuses El Conejo, Inc., of Dallas, Texas. Troopers assigned to the Investigations Division have interviewed witnesses to the collision and traveled to the State of Kansas and identified the driver and vehicle that caused the bus to take an evasive action and overturn.
State Troopers are continuing the investigation and will conduct interviews with about 60 others that were present at the scene. After all witnesses are interviewed and the Reconstruction Team completes its investigation, a report will be compiled and submitted to the Garvin County District Attorney’s Office in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, for their review and consideration of prosecution into this traffic homicide.
A major break in this case came from an alert motorist who recognized another motorist driving dangerously and called * 55 on their cellular phone. The motorist provided a tag number and direction of travel. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol requests that anyone with information into this collision call the Oklahoma Highway Patrol at 1-866-OHP-TIPS.
Several divisions within the OHP and the Kansas Highway Patrol are combining efforts to conduct this investigation.
